Treat yourself to a weekend away from the hectic city life. Enjoy painting,
photography, wildlife viewing, hiking, biking, canoeing/kayaking or just relaxing.
The cabin is the only one on the lake, so you can be assured to be alone, without
discovering other people intruding on your solitude. This private lake flows
into Arrow Lake, which can be easily accessed through a short portage or a two-minute
drive. Arrow Lake is an ideal lake for kayaking since it is a large lake 22km
long and connects with the border lakes for a total of 28km without a portage.
Learn about the natural and cultural history of the area including edible and
medicinal plants, wildlife and old growth pine stands. There are several hiking
trails in the area (including a 65 mile border lakes trail (www.borderroutetrail.org)
and many places to bike. In the winter there is cross-country skiing, snowshoeing
and winter camping as well as kick and dog sledding.
The cabin is located on a private lake with no motorized boats or other cabins.
It is solar-powered with a propane fridge, stove and hot water tank (house rules
and instructions will be provided in writing and during orientation). A glass
front wood stove is the main source of heat. The cabin is fully furnished with
everything you may need including full cooking facilities, dishes, pots and
pans, phone (if necessary for emergencies), bedding, towels, shampoo, soap and
full bath. It has one main bedroom with a double bed and a sunroom with a double
deluxe futon that can serve as a bedroom. In addition, the main living area
has a pull out sofa bed and a single futon (Cabin can sleep 7 total). The rental
includes use of a canoe.
****For the most relaxing experience we would encourage all guests to leave
watches and cell phones at home.
